RP-MILF Wealth-Sharing Deal: Treason By Another Name

This is absolutely unbelievable. A “peace deal”? No, this is treason by another name!

The Aquino regime has just announced its plan to sign an appeasement deal– they call it “final peace deal”– with Muslim separatist rebels. Officials said it was intended to end a decades-long rebellion that turned some parts of Mindanao into a battlefield and killed tens of thousands.

The deal, which is almost unknown to the public, was expected to be signed by the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) within weeks– or after the holy Ramadan– after both parties agreed on a wealth-sharing solution.

Chief peace negotiator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer said that signing of the deal indicates that both parties are “committed to finish the peace negotiations”. “Nobody wants this not to reach its fruition,” she said.

Previous governments also entered into a number of peace negotiations  with the Muslim separatist group that has been fighting for separation from the Philippines to establish an Islamic state founded on shariah law.

Based on the agreement, the Aquino administration is trying to buy MILF’s friendship by offering a highly lopsided wealth-sharing formula.

The term is not profit-sharing, which is a common practice in the corporate world, but wealth-sharing.

Does this mean that our own government has recognized the separatist group’s limited or incomplete sovereignty?

Why did it enter into such a highly complicated, critical agreement without consulting the people or even Congress? Everybody in these parts knows that the MILF is not an ally or a friendly organization, but a separatist group, which is notorious for its past terror activities and links with rogue terror groups like Jemaah Islamiyah.

How can our elected officials, who vowed to protect the country’s sovereignty and serve our Constitution, betray the people and their sworn oath of office?

Here’s a report from Yahoo.com:

Under the deal, the government has agreed to let the rebels have a 75 percent share of earnings from natural resources and metallic minerals in a proposed autonomous region for the Muslim minority in the southern island of Mindanao, Ferrer said.

For energy resources, both sides agreed to split earnings equally following the talks hosted by neighbouring Malaysia.

“We are always optimistic, but that is always guided by a good sense of possibilities and constraints of our situation,” she said, adding that the six days of gruelling talks nearly ended in a breakdown.

“It was a close call, but both parties’ persistence and goodwill bore fruit,” she said.

The government had initially bargained for a bigger share of the wealth, arguing that it wanted a deal that could withstand legal challenge in the Supreme Court.

This shows that the separatist group has just been rewarded for its past terror campaigns after getting more than it bargained for. The deal is about share of earnings from natural resources and the intended beneficiaries are not the people from Mindanao but the MILF leaders.

Even without the government’s official pronouncement, what is clear is that the MILF is now a mini-state, which has its own political structure, system of governance, territory and sovereignty. Yet this group only maintains over 12,000 members.

So, how did the separatist leaders hoodwink the Aquino government into accepting said wealth-sharing solution?

Well, as usual the group threatened not to disarm–and perhaps to continue with their war campaign– unless their demands are not met.

From the same source:

MILF vice chairman for political affairs Ghazali Jaafar said the group expected a “more contentious” round of negotiations ahead.

“The MILF fighters will not disarm unless clear conditions and terms for their safety are met,” Jaafar told AFP. “There must also be an assurance the fighters will be free from harassment from troops once they are disarmed, if ever.”

He said the rebels had originally wanted at least a 60-40 sharing scheme over energy resources, which include natural gas believed abundant in the south.

The proposed autonomous territory comprises areas the minority Muslims consider their “ancestral domain” in Mindanao, the country’s main southern island believed to have a large chunk of the country’s estimated $840 billion in gold, copper and other mineral reserves.

“Not all of us were totally satisfied with the outcome (of the talks),” Jaafar said.

Of course! Nothing can ever satisfy this group. What they want is their own state under shariah or Islamic law. This is what they’ve been fighting for for several decades. They’re not satisfied with our secularism that respects all kinds of religions and they want their own Islamic government system that regards infidels or kaffir as second-class citizens.

Here’s my initial reaction, which I posted on Facebook:

We’re finished!!! This is more than treason!

This stupid P-Noy regime thought they can reason, bargain with Islamic terrorists! They’ve put the lives of millions of people in great peril!

Remember this very day your own government fed you to terrorists who have a long and established history of dishonesty, betrayal, treason, lying, propaganda, kidnapping, beheading, mass murder, etc.

What does profit-sharing mean to the religious separatists and us infidels?

To them, profit-sharing means more opportunity to ARM themselves (to buy more weapons and to train more combatants) for a bigger war!!!

To us, this treasonous, highly dangerous profit-sharing means more deaths, crimes and wars in the future.

Remember this very day and remember the very people who are responsible for this high treason!

This also means something, that our stupid government is acknowledging and legitimizing MILF’s sovereignty. This is an act of state, which means that the MILF is now a mini-state, which has its own sovereignty.

I don’t doubt the government’s intention. However, the MILF is dealing with morons who have no idea about the kind of religious ideology they spouse. This is exactly what happened in India under Ghandi. P-Noy and company’s intention may be good, which is to end conflicts in Mindanao, but they have no fuckin’ idea they can never bargain with these people… Never!

Yet how many peace deals did we have in the past? The rebels kept on betraying the government. But this one is worse… It will enrich not just the corrupt leaders of the MILF; it will also strengthen their fight, militarily and financially, for complete separation and even a possible subsequent invasion of the Philippines.

What our current government did is a big insult not only to law-abiding, freedom-loving Filipinos, but also to our fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives just to defend the government and to protect the people of Mindanao. The President did not just desecrate the Constitution and his oath of office; he also betrayed the entire nation, including the victims of Mindanao conflicts.

How did Pinoy netizens react to this issue

From Mr. 8: “This is just proof that we have the correct country with wrong governance! What kind of a message is our government giving to the people particularly to the children? That we have to be bad like outlaws as rebels are supposed to be so that we will be loved by the government? Rewarding the outlaws instead of the law abiding? If the government is into wealth sharing in the areas of the rebels, then all areas irregardless of tribal affiliation should be entitled to the same arrangement. If not, then all of us should also become rebels in order to enjoy this stupidity of our government run by a president with no balls! NPA, what are you waiting for? There is discrimination here!”

From Alexander: “This is an insult to all filipinos..Are we that intimidated by these bandits that we are giving in to all their desires..What happened to all the soldiers who gave their lives for the sake of the nation…Are they just some poor s.o.b..Do we not remember them when dealing with these bandits..By agreeing to all their terms we have already legitimize these groups..That is against our constitution..”

From Bsf: “Is this right? Under the deal, the government has agreed to let the rebels have a 75 percent share of earnings. How come they will get the bigger share? Please lighten us on this matter. Thanks!”

From Brad Feet: “Magtatayo na lang din ako ng rebel group para maka share ako sa kita ng gobyerno. Ang BOBO nyo!!!!!! saying ang pinapasweldo namin sa inyo.”

From Larry J: What a rip-off for the people of the Philippines. The government has just funded terrorism there. Additionally, it was a master stroke of stupidity to hold the talks in a Muslim country. The Muslim population of the Philippines is about 8%. Only a relatively small part of this 8% is in rebellion. How can you face China if you cannot face this small group? The government is a joke. A sad joke but still a joke. Stupido.”

From Steve: That shows how lamed the central gov’t are! Gov’t fractically lost and surrendered to this group of bandits after decades of skirmishes with them! It’s a shame & lamenting that central gov’t just get 25% share of the region’s wealth! Pretty sure, they’ll fight for 100% ownership & gained independence later on!”

From Baby: AND Soon?? the MILF will use the said wealth to invade the whole PHIL or else control the government!! is that what you’re waiting for?? this might be the outcome.. or more worst!!! they’ll kill us all, and replace this country with their people.”
